Kauai West Shore - Waimea
Island of Kauai
Nightlife & Entertainment
There’s not much nightlife on the west side. You won’t find
dance clubs or wild parties every night. Friday seem to be the night for
partying it up.
For astronomy buffs, the west side of Kaua`i offers ample opportunity
for stargazing. If its clear, the night sky can be phenomenal. There is
very little light pollution, so you can see a lot of stars, even with
the naked eye. There’s also the Kaua`i Educational Association
for Science and Astronomy (KEASA), which holds a monthly star
watch at the Kaumakani softball fields, on Highway 50 between Hanapepe
and Waimea (around mile marker 18). Starwatches begin at sunset. KEASA
has a hotline you can call at
808-332-7827 for the organization’s latest information. They also
have a website at www.keasa.org.
Waimea Brewing Company at Waimea Plantation Cottages,
808-338-9733,
www.waimeabrewing.com,
has live music every Friday night. They have mostly local musicians playing
island-style music. It’s a fine way to wind down and enjoy a cold
beer.
On Friday Art Night in Hanapepe, this sleepy town turns into party central.
The 16 galleries and retail shops are open later, the galleries all have
something to offer. 6 to 9 pm weekly. Most galleries offer pupus and drinks.
There’s also live music on the street.
